Ashland-Greenwood Public Schools is proud to announce that Amanda Moon, AG Primary Principal, has been selected as the Region 1 Distinguished Principal of the Year.

Amanda is a student-first leader. Every decision she makes is guided by one essential question: What is best for students? This clear focus has earned her the trust and respect of staff, families, and colleagues alike. She leads with both conviction and compassion, ensuring that every student is not only academically supported but also known, valued, and inspired.
Mrs. Moon strives to build and sustain a strong, positive school culture. In collaboration with her staff, she helped establish a set of core values that reflect shared beliefs and commitments. These values are not simply displayed, they are actively lived. From staff meetings and professional learning to celebrations and everyday interactions, Amanda consistently reinforces these principles, creating a sense of collective ownership and purpose throughout the school.

Dustin Deterding Named Region 1 Distinguished Assistant Principal

Dustin’s dedication to the Ashland-Greenwood school community, his unwavering positivity, and his genuine care for students and staff make him an exceptional educational leader and a highly deserving recipient for this recognition.
Mr. Deterding approaches his work with remarkable enthusiasm and a deep commitment to the success of every student. His boundless Bluejay spirit is evident in everything he does—from supporting students at activities and events to celebrating the everyday successes that make a school community thrive. Dustin’s presence is felt throughout the district, and his energy helps create an environment where students and staff alike feel valued and supported.

His ability to balance his many duties as our Assistant Principal, while still doing an outstanding job as our Activities Director never ceases to impress.
